A Christmas Story
Just when we thought it was safe to put away the Bermuda
shorts and the Hawaiian shirts,
the New Kingston Band sent word that they are on their way
for Ripe’s I-smus party,
their donkey cart blazing past Santa and his reindeers, the
snow melting from the heat of their passage—
they did manage to stop for a moment to tear up the North
Pole wid some vibes…. –Dasher was the selector, Dancer
start skank to de beats, Prancer grab de mike and start
ride de riddims, Vixon hold two Red Stripe and start reason
wid Comet, Cupid start bun’ some jerk fowl while Donner
and Blixon a cool off wid some Ice Cold Jelly,
and Rudolph, who turned out to be the only true Jamaican
reindeer, start lyrics down Santa bout the whole heap of
weight im a carry pon the one so-so sleigh, and de heap a
work it a go tek fi deliva all a dem sinting deh, so him
tell Santa seh if im fly pass Jamaica,
im have a bredren who can help im fi carry the tings
dem…..—anyway –long story short—nobody nah get no present
dis year from Santa, ‘cause Rudolph gone wid all of di
sinting dem fi go sell a bendown plaza, so him and him
bredren cyan "eat a food" fi di I-smus!
So you might as well pack up the Christmas trees, back off
the winter coats, put on you “marina” and bling bling
slippers, dust off the “batty riders” and get ready for the
heat inside of Ripe’s first ever Christmas party with LIVE
REGGAE , and the blazing New Kingston Band. Party time is
Thursday December 23rd, 2006, at 8:00pm, and our island
will be Blazing Hot , regardless of the weather on your
planet that evening!
